Match report Clontarf travelled to The Maws on a humid, sticky Saturday. It was therefore advantageous from their perspective that they managed to win the toss and opt to bat first.

Tarf raced out of the blocks with the familiar face of Juno along with the slightly more unfamiliar face of batting partner Anwar once again taking advantage of some loose bowling to plunder the NK attack for 74 in the first ten overs. The stand was broken on 92 when Gulab removed Anwar with the help of David Fosters safe pair of hands. Juno was then promptly removed by Manny, with Amol taking a good catch at mid off. The Tarf batsmen didn't let the two quick wickets deter their aggressive nature as Gopal and Nazir brought the score onto 143 in the 24th over. Gulab then had the big wicket of Nazir excellently caught by sub fielder Devansh at cover. Specail mention to Devansh for helping out the firsts as they were a player short, and for once again showing the more senior members of the team the value of anticipation and concentration in the field. Ireland U-19 player Andrew Vincent joined Gopal at the crease as NK began to gain a semblance of control. Matthew O'Meara had Gopal back in the hutch when he was caught by Manny Singh, just rewards for a controlled spell of legspin bowling. The Tarf lads settled into a period of consolidation until the acceleration began with fifteen overs to go. David Foster bowled well at the end and was relatively inexpensive in comparison to some of the other figures as he showed on a two paced pitch how to hit a length. Tarf finished on 339-8 with a well compiled 85 from Vincent the highlight, while Dave's 3 wickets were the highlight for a now slightly fatigued NK XI.

NK would have needed to bat extremely well to come close to Tarf, and unfortunately this never materialised. Skipper Dalton was once again out cheaply, when he reverse dabbed ex NK man ''The General'' Paulie Ryan into the ever grateful hand of Collier at second slip. You'll be hard pushed to find a better catch this season. Manny & Rob combined for the highest partnership of the innings (37) before Rob fell to the impressive F Zaman. Rob looked in good touch and took six off a free hit with what can only be described as a flat batted slap. The rest of the innings left a lot to be desired, with Manny and Gulab falling without the score moving. Clint rescued a complete collapse with a valiant 29, bandana flowing in the wind.

So, onto a big weekend with a double weekend against Merrion and Phoenix, NK in desperate need of a win at this stage.
