Match report The Mens 2nds bowed out of the YM Salver in Clontarf on Tuesday.

Having won the toss, North Kildare batted first with the expectation of putting on a competitive score. However, by the 4th over, with the score 6 for 4, the plans for world domination were blown apart.

In truth, the Clontarf bowlers showed themselves to be two leagues better than our batsmen. Funny that - they ARE two league above us....Only Paddy Wall, Ger Horn and Gary Hunt got to grips with things as the innings closed at the end of the 20th over having made a total of 98 for 8.

So a very strong Clontarf side made speedy inroads into their target. However, having been dispatched for consecutive fours, Paddy Wall struck twice by having one of the Clontarf openers stitched LBW and then sending the Number 4's off stump flying out of the ground.

We stuck to our task well and with some very good ground fielding, made Contarf work hard enough. They eventually reached their target in the 16th over for the loss of 3 wickets.

Special mention to Matthew O'Meara who fielded brilliantly. Anything that was hit near him was stopped in an assured fashion and without fuss.

Next stop on the road for Mens 2nds - Balbriggan - on Bank Holiday Monday, where we'll be doing everything we can to stop the rot having experienced two defeats in a row.
