Match report for NK Women’s 1st XI (Away) V Rush 1st XI 13th August 2011.
North Kildare won by 15 runs
Kildare batted first, opening with L. Small and E. Pollard with L. Small being unluckily caught in deep covers early on. I. Gowing and E. Pollard began to pick singles up in circle as the deep fielding Rush side allowed. I. Gowing went on to score 26 runs and E. Pollard 27. I. Gowing and J. Gray were both run out and E. Pollard was stumped. J. Martin picked up 23 runs and N. Scott- Hayward 6 in the last few overs. The Rush side gave away more extras than they would have liked helping the away side to reach 103 runs.
Bowling merit goes to J. Gray whose bowling was impeccable and resulted in 5 wickets. A. Kerrison, Z. Lipson and I. Gowing all took a wicket each with a run out thrown in for good measure by M. Bursey. Aggressive keeping by E. Pollard behind the stumps yielded several close stumping appeals. Rush pushed on and came convincingly close to seizing the victory but the NK fielding side dug in deep and won the game by 15 runs, leaving Rush with only one wicket to spare!
