Halverstown v North Kildare Cricket Club Men's 1st XI on Sat 17 Jul 2010 at 13:30
North Kildare Cricket Club Won By 9 Wickets

Match report The 1sts strolled to an easy 9 wkt win over Halverstown on Saturday to book their place in the Wallace Cup final once again. Some regulars were missing but on this occasion it mattered little with four of NKCC's talented youngsters filling in and doing a excellent job of it to boot. The four: J. Kerrison, D. O'Neill, R. Randall and Rog Satchwell all fielded admirably with an excellent direct hit run out from Kerrison and a catch, a catch for O'Neill, some awesome diving stops in the gully from Satchwell and Randall (4-1-19-1) bowled an excellent line and length and bagged himself 3 wickets. Halverstown won the toss and decided to have a bat first, probably wisely. With 24 of the 40 overs gone the scoreboard read 56-6. All 6 batsmen out at this point had been bowled. Varun Walia (8-2-8-2) took care of the no.2 and no.4. Wasif Ali (8-6-3-2) was very expensive conceding 3 runs in his 8 overs but he battled on bravely and sent the no.3 and no.7 packing. Manjeet Singh (8-0-38-1) got rid of the no.5 and T. Satchwell (4-1-19-1) yorked the unorthodox but dangerous no.6 Ruddock (23). R. Neavyn (2-0-29-0) then bowled a nice tidy spell as Halverstown suddenly raced past a 100. After that nonsense from Neavyn it was left to Rosco Randall to restore some sanity to proceedings. What Ali, Walia, Singh, Satchwell and, ahem, Neavyn couldn't do, Randall could. Oppo opener G. Nurse (41) was still there, now in the 33rd over, when he hit a good line and length ball from Randall straight to T. Satchwell at point for a smart catch. The young lads then combined to remove the oppos no.9 and no.10, caught O' Neill bowled Randall and caught Kerrison bowled Randall. And then to finish off the oppo innings in style, Kerrison, bowling at the time, produced a quality direct hit at the strikers end to run out the no.11. Halverstown finished on 139 all out with D. Ryall (46*) the pick of their batsmen in an aggressive lower order knock.

The 1sts then chased down the target of 140 with ease. Neavyn and Walshe put together a partnership of 103 in 17.3 overs before Walshe (42 off 58, 9x4s) fell bowled by left arm spinner Ryall. Neavyn (66* off 56, 7x4s 2x6s) and Manjeet Singh (26* off 19, 6x4s) then took NK home with an unbeaten stand of 37 and the 1sts had reached their target in just 22.1 overs.

The 1sts will now play the winner of the other semi between Oak Hill and Laoise. The final is due to be played on Aug 22nd in Knockharley.
